About Gwen
Early Life and Education
Gwen’s upbringing was shaped by her experiences growing up in Laterbiokoshie, surrounded by her brothers. A self-proclaimed tomboy, she later embraced her feminine side and developed a love for all things women, a passion that would become central to her life’s work. Her entrepreneurial spirit showed early when she started selling handmade items to her classmates in primary school.
After completing primary education at New Hope School, Gwen attended Saint Monica’s Secondary School in Mampong, where boarding life taught her resilience and independence. She later graduated from Akosombo International School before pursuing her degree at the University of Ghana, Legon. Her thirst for knowledge led her to earn an Executive MBA from the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), equipping her with the tools to build her future empire.
A Transition from Banking to Entrepreneurship

Gwen at Standard Chartered Bank
Gwen began her professional journey in banking, working at Standard Chartered Bank for several years. However, her vision was greater than the confines of corporate life. Inspired by a personal struggle—her insecurity with thin hair as a child—she turned her pain into purpose.

"I always say this: my lack made way for my gain. What I didn’t have inspired me to pursue it—not just for myself, but for others facing the same challenges."
Gwen’s success wasn’t instant. “You can’t start a business and think it’s going to work like a microwave,” she explains. Her perseverance and ability to adapt have been key to building a brand that resonates deeply with customers.
The Birth of The Hair Senta

In 2013, Gwen founded The Hair Senta, redefining the hair industry in Africa by creating a one-stop center for all hair needs. Unlike traditional hair retailers, she focused on branding and elevating hair extensions into a premium lifestyle product. Her vision was clear: “When you think hair, you think The Hair Senta.” The Hair Senta quickly gained recognition for its wide range of hair textures and innovative events like the Big December Sale, which brings customers from across the region. Gwen also introduced the Last Call Sale, a groundbreaking online promotion that turned challenges into opportunities, ensuring her business not only survived but thrived.

Empowering Others Through DIRECTION
Gwen’s book, DIRECTION, embodies her life philosophy: connecting drive to purpose. "If you have the drive to do something in life, you still need to connect that drive to a purpose or vision," Gwen shares. The book has become a guiding light for individuals seeking clarity and direction in their lives.
